Chaosmosis Stills

9. "Silent Paintings"

The title of this series of painting refers to the link between the two anagrams silent and listen. It is obviously a pun on the tradition of ut pictura poesis founded by Simonides of Ceos. He said that painting is mute poesy while poesy is speaking pictures.

All "Silent paintings" were made on templates # 1 or 2.

Each painting presents itself as a group of pieces like a jig-saw-puzzle. A still of the chaosmosis.

The cutting lines were chosen by asking questions regarding the direction to follow at each bifurcation point on the chaosmos/template.

Answers were provided by the Random-numbers tables.

Their black or whiteness is a metaphor for contingency.
